A #RolandGarros debut to remember ✨ @EmmaRaducanu overcomes 17-year-old qualifier Linda Noskova 6-7(4), 7-5, 6-1 in two hours and 37 minutes.
Emma Raducanu was very close to defeat against Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic but the Brit rallied to win it 6-7(4) 7-5 6-1 at Roland Garros.
Noskova is a qualifier who played some superb tennis this clay season to break into the top 200. The Czech player is a rising talent and she certainly showed all of it in this matchup. We will be seeing more of her rather quickly especially if she can bring the ball-striking she showed today. Noskova opted for an all-out aggressive style of play.
She had moments where she missed a lot but for the better part of the early match, Noskova was cleaning the corners with ease. Raducanu struggled with it at the start but was able to hold her serve and the 4-2 lead as well. She lost it not long after that as Noskova started playing very clean tennis so we ended up in a tiebreak. More of those winners came for Noskova who took the opening one 7-4.
Noskova took an early break in the 2nd set but gave it right back so we were at 2-2. She took another break 4-3 but again gave it right back 4-4. Then it was time for Raducanu to shine a little bit and she did taking over the match and winning the 2nd with 7-5.
Noskova started missing quite a bit towards the end of the set and it continued in the final one as well. Raducanu was able to outlast her opponent winning the final one with 6-1 to move on. Noskova blasted a superb 48 winners in the match but also had 54 unforced errors and that was too much.
