Emma Raducanu was ranked outside the top 300 earlier this year but a stellar
US Open run will propel her to become the British number one on the rankings.
When Emma Raducanu arrived in New York she was ranked as the 150th best tennis player in the world. After the conclusion of the US Open, she will be ranked much higher thanks to a historic run to her maiden Grand Slam final. Whether Raducanu wins or loses it remains to be seen but either way she will make a historic jump on the WTA Rankings on Monday.
By reaching the final, Raducanu is guaranteed to be ranked at least 32nd in the world on Monday. That is a jump of 118 spots on the WTA rankings which never happened. If she is able to maintain that position until January she will be a seeded player at the Australian Open next year. Raducanu currently earned 1340 WTA points in the past fortnight which makes the jump possible.
If she wins the US Open she will earn an additional 700 WTA points which will propel her to number 23 on the rankings. That would be an increase by 322 places compared to the start of the year. Considering she only played a handful of WTA level events that is an absurd achievement. Either way, Raducanu will become the British number one on Monday.
