Novak Djokovic seemingly breaks another record every day and today is no exception as the Serbian knocked off Bjorn Borg for a fascinating stat.
Novak Djokovic has played in 66 Grand Slam events so far in his career having won 20 of them with the possibility of winning his 21st this week. Besides winning 20 of the 66 he played in, he also made 42 semi-final appearances in those 66 events he participated which marks the percentage of reaching the semi-final at major you play in.
The Serbian has now made the semi-final in 63 % of the majors he played in which is the best mark ever, slightly better than Bjorn Borg's mark of 60 %. Borg also played in only 28 grand slams reaching the semi-final 17 times which makes the comparison between Djokovic's mark and his mark kind of unfair. The result of Djokovic is far more impressive than that of Borg.
Besides these two, we also have Roger Federer who made the semifinal in 56 % of grand slams he played in as well as Rafael Nadal who also holds a 56 % mark. The only other player in tennis history that has a mark better than 50 % is Ken Rosewall with 56 % with all other players ranking below 50 %. Some of the names are all-time great players such as Connors, Lendl, Murray, Sampras, Agassi, McEnroe and more.
