British tennis star
Emma Raducanu has added a new tournament to her 2024 schedule, as she's set to compete at the upcoming
Korea Open, which runs from September 16-22, 2024.
The 21-year old is set to face former Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin in the first round of the ongoing
US Open. The former World No.10 skipped the Olympic Games to focus on her hard court preparations, reaching the quarterfinals at the DC Open earlier this month.
Raducanu to join star-studded list of entrants in Seoul, Korea
The 2021 US Open champion will be one of several big names competing at the Korea Open. Already confirmed for the event are World No.1
Iga Swiatek, former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina and Canada Open champion Jessica Pegula. Daria Kasatkina, Karolina Pliskova and Karolina Muchova are also scheduled to compete at the event, with the Billie Jean King Cup looming ahead.
The Korea Open has been elevated from WTA 250 to WTA 500 this year, meaning the champion will earn 500 world ranking points. Furthermore, the winner will also receive a prize of around £758,000, which is a significant increase from the £197,000 payout last year. Raducanu reached the semi-finals of the Korea Open two years ago, losing to eventual runner-up Jelena Ostapenko.
