Emma Raducanu will sacrifice a family Christmas in order to better prepare for the start of the 2022 season as she will spend a month in the Middle East.
Raducanu is scheduled to play her next match at the Mubadala Tennis event in Abu Dhabi that is set to begin on December 16th. The Brit will travel fairly soon to the Persian Gulf where she will spend almost a month before flying to Australia on December 27th. The Brit confirmed the schedule after her exhibition match in the Royal Albert Hall in London yesterday.
Speaking on it she said:
“I knew that playing tennis you’ll spend birthdays, you’ll spend Christmas and New Year not at home and I feel like for me it doesn’t matter. I’m there to train, I’m there to get better and then I fly to Australia. What’s going to be best for me is staying in the Middle East rather than flying seven hours back and forth."
Raducanu will still look to spend time with family and friends hoping her family can join her in the Persian Gulf for the festivities before she heads off to Australia:
“So I feel like it’s not a sacrifice and hopefully my Mum or Dad can come out maybe, and one of my best friend lives in Dubai so I can just see her.”
