Hello, last week in Seoul i sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal😔. It means i can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as i can 🤞❤️🩹
The hopes of the remainder of Emma Raducanu's return will rest on the Hong Kong Open as her chances to return to the court continue to diminish after her latest double withdrawal from the next two tournaments on her calendar.
Raducanu retired midway through her Quarter-Final against Daria Kasatkina at the Korea Open and revealed she had sprained ligaments in her foot. She withdrew from the China Open this past week as well as Wuhan Open.
But has now confirmed that she won't play either Ningbo Open or Guangzhou Open in the next two weeks which were her next two tournaments. This is a blow as Raducanu is half Chinese and had hoped to play tournaments in the country for the first time to finish a busy season.
It was also pre calculated by Raducanu who hoped to play these tournaments and gain form and ranking points after garnering criticism for not playing most of the season. Instead she will spend at least a month on the sidelines.
Her next target as a result is the Hong Kong Open which begins on October 28. But also it won't be her final action with Raducanu in the Billie Jean King Cup team for Great Britain on November 15.
Still though in a season where she hoped to pick up steam and shun the haters who have been out to criticise every decision since she won the US Open back in 2021. But it seems her fans at the very least will have to wait a bit longer to see her in action with this latest setback not coming at the right time.
