Eugenie Bouchard managed to qualify for the Madrid Open win two impressive wins and she added another win to her tally by beating
Dayana Yastremska in the first round 6-7(8) 6-2 6-2.
It was a very interesting matchup between Bouchard and Yastremska as they are both capable players who are somewhat struggling lately. The first set was a very interesting one ending in a great tiebreak which Yastremska won 8-6. She was playing a bit sharper even though Bouchard really had her chances in the first set but she couldn't hold onto an early break.
The end of the set was quite chaotic as well but the rest of the match was rather straightforward. Bouchard started playing a lot better and applying heavy pressure on Yastremska which she didn't handle well at all. She's quite prone to spamming errors and there was a lot of that in the second one.
6-2 was the score for Bouchard and she kept playing that well in the final set as well. Once again she found herself with a double break up 5-2 though Yastremska had some chances to pull one of those back. Bouchard saved them and finished it off 6-2.
