Holger Rune is of the opinion that tennis should embrace players expressing their personalities on the court to make it more interesting and appealing to the younger generations.
Holger Rune is one of the rising stars of the new generations. The Danish player also brings a lot of passion and fire to the courts which has caused him some problems with other players as they aren't used to a player burning that hot. It's just the way he approaches tennis and he would like to see more players expressing their personality on the court because he feels that it could benefit the sport overall.
It's not a unique opinion and neither is a new one. Many players like Kyrgios and some former players have advocated for similar things in the past. Rune's comments on the matter were:
“Things will happen like for example between Zverev & Medvedev. For us as players it’d be easier if we’d handle it ourselves so it wouldn’t come out. But for fans, it’s cool to have some personalities & some things happen. Fans admire the sport but also characters.”
