Fans of
Eugenie Bouchard will have to wait a while longer to see her in action, as the Canadian is no longer scheduled to play at the 2022
French Open.
Bouchard, who has been out of action for nearly a year after having shoulder surgery, had been making strides to return to the WTA circuit. The 28-year old had ramped up her practice sessions and even participated in a few exhibition events.
With a few ITF tournaments on her calendar, Bouchard had entered her name to partake in the qualifying event for the upcoming French Open, which kicks off on May 16. However, the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up has removed her name from the event, indicating she is not yet where she'd like to be in terms of recovery and fitness.
The former World No.5 underwent shoulder surgery in June of last year, and often kept fans updated on her recovery and progress via social media. Although she stated she would like to make a return at the French Open and then Wimbledon, those plans may be up in the air following the latest development.
