Former Wimbledon runner-up
Eugenie Bouchard will be competing at her hometown event of the
Canadian Open, after battling her way into the main draw through the qualifying stages.
Bouchard has been struggling with injuries that have seen her sidelined for most of last season, and currently sits outside the top 200 in the WTA rankings.
Hometown girl excited to return to Montreal
Despite falling in the rankings and suffering from inconsistency over the past few years, Bouchard seemed eager to return to Montreal. The 29-year old took to social media and posted several pictures of herself boarding the plane and then pictures of her landing several hours later.
“Can’t wait to see you all in Montreal this weekend!!!” Bouchard wrote on Instagram.
