Evert pleased for Kostyuk after Austin win and shows sympathy with Ukraine war: "Sad that players didn’t reach out to her"

Chris Evert is happy that Marta Kostyuk finally won her first WTA trophy in Austin showing symphaty also towarsd the Ukranian cause.

No player has been more vocal about the war in Ukraine than Marta Kostyuk who mentions it every time she can. It's understandable, her country was invaded and is being torn apart in a very bloody war. She referenced that in her speech saying that she dedicates her trophy to her country.

Evert reacted to her winning and admitted sadness that she didn't get much support from other players on the Tour.

"Happy for her, too… thank you for the article, read it and felt disappointed and sad that players didn’t reach out to her."
