Fans on social media got triggered after a recent comment
made by Russia’s young tennis star Liudmila Samsonova.
The 24-year-old recently made a comment about the former
world number one Poland’s Iga Swiatek, who according to her is the ‘best player
in the world’.
Those comments did not go down well with the fans on social
media platform X — previously known as Twitter.
Swiatek lost her number one crown after a disappointing
outing in the US Open where she was knocked out of the tournament after losing
to Latvia’s Jeļena Ostapenko in the round of 16 with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
That opportunity was grabbed with both hands by Sabalenka
who ended up playing in the final of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the
year.
However, that proved to be not a memorable outing as she ended
up losing to America’s young tennis sensation Coco Gauff with a score of 3-6, 6-3,
6-2.
