Fernandez, Svitolina and Pavlyuchenkova set for Abierto GNP Seguros Monterrey

The Abierto GNP Seguros Monterrey in return in 2022 and some players have already signed up to play at the event including Fernandez, Svitolina, and Pavlyuchenkova.

Leylah Fernandez has had a quiet offseason with the young Canadian looking to build upon her tremendous US Open run that saw her narrowly miss out on the title. In the weeks after the event, Fernandez struggled with form and consistency which was somewhat expected. Her first trophy was won in Monterrey this year and she will return next year to try and defend it.

The Mexican event proved quite popular with players last year which is why the field in 2022 will be even stronger. Besides Fernandez, several other notable players also signed up to play at the event. We have Elina Svitolina who will also take part in the event. The Ukrainian will look to get back on track after somewhat of a down year in 2021.

Pavlyuchenkova had one of the best years of her career in 2021 and the veteran will try to keep that going in 2022 albeit it will be tough. A good chance could be this event where she will be one of the higher seeds with a good draw.
