Roger Federer grew up watching some special tennis player play the game he would later go on to dominate. The Swiss ace even got a chance to play some of those players when he broke out in the tennis scene in 2001. In a recent talk, Federer remembered the times he battle Sampras and Agassi in 2001 admitting that he sees them very differently.
"For me, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi are different players. Pete was my favorite when I was young, while Andre was not."
Federer would not elaborate further on the reasons but remembering the times he played against them he admitted that facing Sampras at Wimbledon was much more special:
"I do not know, it was more special at Wimbledon than here in Miami, even though I like this place a lot. Wimbledon has a bigger tradition, and I can not compare my Wimbledon match against Sampras with the one I played against Agassi here in Florida."
Federer would go on to carve out a spectacular career for himself with both Sampras and Agassi admitting he was better than team.
