The tennis community was pleased at a right being wronged, as Elena Rybakina climbed up the rankings to reach a new career-high of World No.3.
Rybakina, who claimed her maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last year, did not receive any ranking points for the event, which would have seen her immediately break into the Top 10.
However, the Kazakh star made a great start to the 2023 season, winning titles at both the BNP Paribas Open and the Italian Open. Additionally, she finished runner-up at the 2023 Australian Open and the Miami Open.
Currently sitting with 5,090 ranking points, Currently, the 23-year old trails only Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka on the ranking ladder. Tennis fans took to social media to express their joy at Rybakina's new ranking.
