Heading into 2023 aiming to revive her fortunes sitting just outside the top 400, former Wimbledon finalist in Sabine Lisicki will play her first match of 2023 later today at an ITF 40k tournament in Mexico City.
Lisicki will face Italian qualifier, Verena Meliss in the opening round on Cancha Central court which will be at 4:30pm CET later this afternoon.
Reaching the final at Wimbledon in 2013, injury struggles have always halted her momentum but making her return for the first time since 2022 last year, she won her first main draw match since 2018 in Bad Homburg.
Not playing until November after the grass court season, she played in Calgary and Andorra in the latter half of the year reaching the Quarter-Finals in both.
