Life has gotten a lot busier for retired tennis star Ashleigh Barry, after the Australian announced the birth of her second child with husband Gary Kissick.
During her distinguished career, the Ipswich native ascended to the top of the WTA Rankings, attaining the World No.1 spot while winning three Grand Slam titles. However, Barty made a shocking announcement when she suddenly retired from the sport in 2022 at the age of 25, a few months after winning the 2022 Australian Open.

Barty embracing motherhood during retirement

The 2021 Wimbledon champion tied the knot with Kissick soon after her retirement, before giving birth to her first child, a baby boy named Hayden, in the summer of 2023. In late 2024, Barty announced the couple were expecting a second child, and the family revealed the birth of their second son, Jordan, a few days ago.
"Welcome to the world, Jordan. You are loved unconditionally and we are so grateful to have you in our arms, gorgeous girl," Barty announced in a post on Instagram, alongside a photo of Jordan.
Previously, Barty had highlighted the details of motherhood, where she stated being a mother was even more rewarding than winning a Grand Slam title.
“Without a doubt, not even a comparison," said Barty during an interview with Body and Soul in late 2024. "Absolutely. There were plenty of times throughout my career when I thought training was hard or I had some tough days, but it just goes to a whole new level when you become a mum.
"It’s relentless – it’s 24/7 – but it’s so rewarding and, honestly, it’s the best thing that I’ve ever done. I think it’s incomparable to being an athlete."
