Naomi Osaka is a champion again winning the Saint Malo Challenger Tournament as the decision to play in France on the WTA 125k circuit paid off as she wins her first ever clay court title.
It is also her first since becoming a mum after returning to the sport at the start of last year. She claimed it 6-1, 7-5 against Kaja Juvan and she will climb seven spots past Emma Raducanu into World No.48 this next week.
It has been a hard road for the former World No.1 who has often showed promise that she would get back to where she was pre motherhood but has often wrangled with injury and inconsistency when she has.
But she decided to go to the lower circuit this week after losing to Lucia Bronzetti in the Madrid Open. This has given her wins and most importantly confidence in a similar route to what Elina Svitolina and Belinda Bencic took when they returned.
In the final she was down 2-4 on serve in the second set but managed to turn it around as she nearly went 5-2 down with Juvan having a chance to go one away from the second set. But she managed to weather the storm.
She prevailed and Kaja Juvan also benefits. She goes up 159 spots in the rankings so even more than Osaka has this week so a good decision from both.
Other wins saw her see off Petra Marcinko, Diane Parry, Elsa Jacquemot and Leolia Jeanjean, three out of the four wins being Frenchwomen and apart from Jeanjean, it was all straight set wins.

FFS... Stop with the nonsense.
Being in that 125 was like Babe Ruth playing Designated Hitter in Little League baseball.
