"Fourth time lucky" - said a joyful Alexandrova after taking down Svitolina at bett1 Open

Ekaterina Alexandrova finally defeated Elina Svitolina in their 4th match and the Russian was thrilled with her performance at the bett1 Open.

It was a historically tough matchup for Ekaterina Alexandrova but the Russian was not to be denied the win over Elina Svitolina whom she bested 6-4 7-5. The Russian put forward a great performance not getting discouraged even after falling behind in the 2nd set. She rallied to take it 7-5 and get her first win over Svitolina.

She said after the match:

"Fourth time lucky. I really like playing on grass. I was looking forward to it."

All three of their previous matches were won by Svitolina but they were also played on slower courts which favour the Ukrainian more. On the matchup she said:

"To play against Elina is always tough and I'm surprised I won in two sets. In my mind I was already focused on the third set - I think I was luckier in that important game, and when I broke her back it gave me more confidence."
