Former world number 1, Garbine Muguruza is getting back to her top level with very good performances as she admitted she wants to fight for trophies again.
The 27-years-old Spanish player enjoyed her top seasons back in 2015, 2016 and 2017 when she managed to win 2 Grand Slam titles. Now, she's moving outside of the Top 10, but she's on her way there again as she has won 11 out of 14 matches this season.
In her last match against Aryna Sabalenka, who is one of the best-performing players at the moment, Muguruza won in 3 sets and showed her real strengths. After the match, she commented on her improvement, when she said:
"I'm very motivated to play top players," Muguruza said in her post-match press conference. "Like everybody, I worked hard. I'm fighting for trophies, to play well in big tournaments, in good tournaments."
"Today I was facing a top player, and I knew I have to go out there with a big, fighting spirit, and [be] strong to be able to win against these tough opponents."
