Coco Gauff continued her great run on clay with another impressive victory taking down
Amanda Anisimova reaching the
Emilia-Romagna Open semifinal.
The American phenom overcame a bit of a slow start to defeat Anisimova 6-3 6-3 in the Emilia-Romagna Open semifinal. Gauff had to save break points in her first game and ended up losing her serve to give Anisimova the 2-1 lead. The American pulled the break back but lost her serve once more.
At 3-2 for Anisimova, she went on a rampage winning four games in a row closing the opening set with 6-3. She was great on her first serve but struggles on her 2nd serve. Luckily for her, her great return allowed her to dominate on Anisimova's serve which proved key.
The 2nd set followed a similar pattern with Guaff once again trailing early 0-3. After shaking off that slow start she went on a rampage again winning the six final games to close out the set with 6-3. Once again her return proved key as Anisimova simply could not find a way to win her service games.
Gauff moves to her 2nd consecutive semifinal at a clay event and the way she played she could be the favourite to win it all.
