Alexander Zverev is not your typical tennis player as he is a lot more outspoken about his views on things than the average tennis player.
Tennis for a long time has been a sport where players usually don't take prominent stances on things. After all, it's a gentleman's sport but in recent years more and more players have expressed their views openly causing controversy in a sport that desperately tries to avoid it. One such player is Alexander Zverev who over the years gave many interesting interviews. About his outspoken nature he said:
"I say things as they are. Sometimes I fall flat on my face, but I don't care. I'd rather be honest and open with my opinion than like the other 90% of tennis players who say the same thing in every press conference."
Not long ago Zverev made headlines by calling out the ATP ranking system which allowed Roger Federer (used as the example) to be ranked higher than Federer which the german did not like. For Zverev tennis is a passion and something he dedicated his life fully. On his love for tennis he said:
"I love to play tennis. Many tennis players say they don't like the sport at all, they like making money or something else."
For Zverev the upcoming summer is an important one. He has his sights set at the Olympics where he plans to participate in all 3 tennis competition representing Germany. He said:
"I'm ready to play all 3 competitions. I'll probably have to take a month off after playing 18 matches in 1 week, but I'll be ready."
He explained that he plans to pair up with Kerber for the mixed doubles and with Putz for the men's doubles.
