Coco Gauff kept her foot on the gas as she continued her strong form in 2022, defeating Ana Konjuh to secure a semifinal berth at the Adelaide International II event.
The third seed scored a 6-3 6-4 victory over Konjuh, employing her improved serve and big forehand to dictate play. The American won 12 of 15 points behind her first serve in the opening serve, hitting three aces to four double faults. Regardless, her superior play enabled the World No.19 to clinch the opening set.
The second set saw a more relaxed Gauff control the pace of the match, as the 17-year old attempted to close it out in straight sets. However, Konjuh offered more resistance, breaking back after the American had obtained the initial break. This was to no avail, as Gauff immediately broke the Croatian's serve to lead 5-4. After taking her service game to deuce, the third seed was able to seal her victory in an hour and 21 minutes.
Gauff will face the winner between compatriot Madison Keys and Russian Liudmila Samsonova for a spot in the final.
