The American player was eager to step out on the courts against Siniakova and her level certainly proved soo. Siniakova is no slouch and the Czech player is able to play very good singles tennis but in this match, she was completely outmatched from the start. Gauff dominated both on serve and return simply outhitting Siniakova who is a capable hitter herself.
She did not serve as well and she needed to play quite a few points to win her games but she was able to hold her composure for the most part. On return, she did most of her damage on her opponent's 2nd serve which was expected. The first serve finished with 6-1 to Gauff. The 2nd set was quite similar but this time around it was Gauff who played even better.
She served better while still doing the same thing on return. It was enough to cruise to a 6-2 2nd set victory. It's a good rebound win for Gauff who unfortunately ran into Ashleigh Barty last week in Adelaide. This week the draw is a bit weaker so the American has a chance to earn some points ahead of the Australian Open.
