Coco Gauff returned to the courts on Tuesday at the Ostrava Open and defeated Czech Republic native Kateryna Siniakova in straight sets.
The final match at the Ostrava Open on Tuesday was fought between native Siniakova and Gauff. The American proved better winning 7-5 6-4 in 96 minutes of play. The opening set started off with a bang and showed what a great match this would be. The first four games weren't won by the player who served but the result was still tied at 2-2 despite the 4 breaks. After that, we had a period of calm play where both players managed to stay on top of each other during service games. Gauff was the first to rack doing so at the worst possible time giving Siniakova a 5-4 lead with the native Czech player serving in the next game. It didn't matter much as the American played a stellar game to make it 5-5.
After that, Gauff proceeded to win the next two games bringing an exciting first set to a close. It was a remarkable set from Gauff who somehow won it 7-5. The 2nd set featured much less excitement with Both of them holding their serve with ease. Gauff had to save a break point but she had no issues saving it. She served extremely well hitting her 1st serve at an impressive rate which helped her keep her serve. She had much less success on her 2nd serve but she didn't have to play many of those points.
At 5-4 for Gauff Siniakova didn't play her best tennis and the American bravely gave herself three consecutive match points. To the delight of the native Czech crowd, Siniakova saved all three of them in stellar fashion. Sadly she didn't save the 4th one as the American wrapped it up 6-4 in the second set.
