Coco Gauff had a complete meltdown in the match against Sevastova losing it 6-4 5-7 2-6.
It was not a good day at the office for Coco Gauff who is out of the
Eastbourne international after completely collapsing in the match against Sevastova. Gauff completed a sensational comeback win yesterday against Mertens but today she was the one that lost the match.
Gauff was in control early and won the first set with 6-4. She continued playing great in the 2nd set taking an early 5-2 lead. After that, Sevastova started playing much better with nerves getting to Gauff a little bit. The Latvian player pulled the break to make it 5-5.
She then won two games in a row to win the 2nd set with 7-5. Gauff kind of bounced back early in the 3rd forcing a break point but Sevastova was able to save it. The Latvian then went on a 4-0 run to close out the match with 6-2.
A very bad finish from Gauff who did not look tired in the match but her movement did falter towards the end. She was late on balls which caused her to overhit too many times and commit cheap mistakes.
