Rafael Nadal is a tennis icon in the World and to celebrate the legend, Spain introduced the 'National Tennis Day' which is on his birthday.
It's hard to count all the rewards Rafael Nadal has received in his native Spain but the Spaniard just added another one to the collection. The Spaniard recently celebrated his 35th Birthday in Paris during the Roland Garros and now the date has been immortalized in Spain forever.
It will be 'National Tennis Day' in Spain every June 3rd. It's a great honour and one of many that Nadal has received in Spain. The Spaniard did not have his desired finish to the clay season which prompted him to skip Wimbledon and the Olympic Games. His coach Moya explained he was tired and was starting to feel mental fatigue.
On the decision Spanish Tennis Federation president Miguel Diaz said:
"I was listening to the Eurosport comments about Nadal's game, and I immediately understood that the idea was magnificent. Spanish tennis has a lot to celebrate. We have the most outstanding Spanish athlete of all time, we are current Davis Cup champions, and we are in the Billie Jean King Cup finals. I think, as I say, we have a lot to celebrate."
