Gauff opens 2020 season successfully at ASB Classic

Day 1 at the 2020 ASB Classic in Auckland featured seven quality matchups but also withdrawal of Jelena Ostapenko and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

For most of the fans watching the 2020 ASB Classic, Coco Gauff was the no.1 player to watch during the first day of play. The youngster is making headlines anywhere she moves and so she is watched closely also in Auckland. During the off-season, she also trained with Serena Williams and Mike Tyson.
In the first round of ASB Classic, Gauff was successful when she defeated 2019 semifinalist, Viktoria Kuzmova in two sets. She was joined by wild-card Eugenie Bouchard and also 8th seeded Caroline Garcia.
The tournament will lack two names which were previously featured in the draw. Svetlana Kuznetsova and Jelena Ostapenko withdrew from the tournament. On her Twitter account, Ostapenko wrote: "Due to personal reasons, I unfortunately have to withdraw from the ASB Classic here in Auckland. I am looking forward to be back competing soon."
