Linda Noskova lost out in the Last 16 of the Japan Open to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova who continues her revival, but losing the final set 6-0 after winning the second 6-4 saw one fan take their frustrations out with a disturbing set of abusive messages.
The 1`8-year-old Czech ace took to Instagram showcasing the messages and saw the funny side saying Dude with a laughing and clapping emoji.
But it shows a rising theme in sport where athletes have to deal with harassment daily and Noskova is the latest to deal with it.
This tennis fan wrote 'get cancer and die' repeatedly over the set of messages and cited getting 20 game points and losing the game.
Replies to the tweet by The Tennis Letter said that while it is sad, it is now common place especially when betting is involved.
