"Great victory and I'm happy about it" - Halep after win over Zheng

Simona Halep advanced at the Madrid Open with a win over Saisai Zheng and after the match, she shared her feelings on it.

The match was a very specific one in the sense that it eerily mimicked her 1st round match against Sorribes Tormo. Once again Halep came out with fire winning the first set 6-0. The 2nd set was again more competitive but once again a lapse in focus almost derailed her match as she once again got broken when she served for the match.

On that whole thing Halep said:

"It was almost the same [as the first round]... I was really focused in the last game and I just wanted to finish it."

And indeed she was able to do it closing out the 2nd set with 6-4. Halep did not offer any insight as to what is causing these late match lapses in focus which are very foreign for Halep. When asked about the 2nd set she simply praised her opponent saying she played well in the 2nd set:

"I think she played really well in the second set."

Barty further commented on the match admitting her happines because of the win:

"It's a great victory and I'm really happy about it."

She will play against Elise Mertens for a place in the quarterfinal.
