Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber alongside doubles pairing Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah opened the new centre court at the Adelaide International.

This though wasn't a normal court opening with it being done for bushfire relief with the elite quartet entertaining the crowd in a one-set duel with all money raised benefiting those who are worst effected by the fires.
Kerber spoke afterwards and said that it's great to be back but it is really important to help in whatever way they can.
“I love Australia, it’s like my second home. I always look forward to starting my year here, it’s a very special place. It’s great to be back,” said 2016 Australian Open champion Kerber.
“We’re here of course because of the fires. We are all really sad for the situation. We’re trying to help and donate as much as possible to help here in Australia. We’re trying all we can and it’s really important.”
Halep also spoke after the match about her personal pledge whenever she gets angry with coach Darren Cahill and that it's good for her as it's the only time she can get angry with him with a good cause in mind.
“It’s heartbreaking what is happening right now in Australia, I feel so sad about that,” said Halep who won alongside Cabal in a match tie-break.
“I will donate every time I get upset with Darren [Cahill, coach] on court ($200), which I do a lot. I will donate some extra money too because I feel so sad.
“It’s the first time he’s ever allowed me to get angry with him, so it’s a good time for me.”
