Serena Williams finished the year out of the top 10 for the 3rd time in 4 years and there are questions regarding her form.
Former Slovak player Daniela Hantuchova believes Serena will have a decent shot at a title in Melbourne. She said:
"Whenever Serena enters a tournament, she has a chance. I think the Australian Open could be the best one for her because she is away from some of the pressure she gets at Wimbledon and the US Open, and she can concentrate on her tennis."
The former player continued:
"If there is a right place for her to get this record, maybe it will be in Melbourne. Hopefully, she can get there, and we can find a way to play with this quarantine issue. It was important to have so many successful events over the last few months, encouraging everyone to believe we have lots to look forward to in 2021".
The Australian Open is set to start at a later date then usual so that should give everyone additional time to prepare including Serena.
