Talented player
Peyton Stearns will be taking a short break from tennis after experiencing fatigue and various other symptoms due to a parasite in her body.
Stearns has been playing really solid this year announcing herself to the world. She's certainly the future of tennis and is expected to have a great career but she's been dealing with a lot of issues from around the French Open. After losing her most recent match on grass, Stearns took to social media to explain the situation.
She's been battling various types of symptoms since the French Open affecting her tennis:
"Since the French Open I've been battling an unknown illness on and off randomly. I've had severe symptoms and countless trips to the bathroom per day, as my body was rejecting something inside of me. I wasn't able to keep food down most days and because of that my body was fatigued and tired making it extremely hard to get out of bed some mornings."
Parasite
Stearn's symptoms became too much to handle after a while leaving her unable to compete the way she wants so she sought out medical help. After some tests, the diagnosis was known - a parasite:
"I thought it was just the flu or something similar and was told to let it run its course, but after 3 weeks I decided to seek medical help from a doctor. After running some blood and other tests we found out I've been hosting a parasite in my body! Going to take some time to recover and get ready for Wimbledon and most importantly get this parasite out of my body for good."
Parasites are tricky to handle as it takes to clear them from the body but Stearns is hopeful that it will happen before Wimbledon so she can compete at the event.
