Fabio Fognini is at risk of being banned from tennis after missing out on a second consecutive doping ban; he won't be able to play at Wimbledon until he sorts that out.
Fabio Fognini has been in the sport for a very long time and while the Italian certainly is closer to retirement than his peak, he might be forced to call it quits sooner than anticipated. A rather curious situation unfolded recently when Fognini missed a second scheduled doping test. Tennis players are frequently tested for doping substances with most players getting tested at least 10 times over the course of a season.
Fognini is among them but he's now missed two consecutive doping tests could be troublesome for the Italian. What complicates the situation is that Fognini was supposed to be tested at home and when WADA officials arrived at his home, Fognini was nowhere to be found.

Istanbul bound

He was actually in Istanbul for the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Machester City. Fognini is a passionate football fan and he supports Inter taking a chance to fly out to Turkey to watch the final. Due to that, he missed the second doping test as he forget to notify officials that he won't be there when they come for the doping test.
It remains to be seen what kind of repercussions that will have but some are speculating that a ban could be handed out due to the casual approach to a very serious matter. Fognini never had any problems with doping in his career so it would be a rather poor conclusion to a solid career.
He also won't be able to play Wimbledon until the situation resolves and it's unclear whether that will happen in time. A lot of unknowns around his career right now.
