Madison Keys certainly was emotional as she won the 2025 Australian Open but so was one of her best friends as Laura Robson was spotted courtside crying while sat with Barbara Schett and Rennae Stubbs among others for Eurosport.

Robson and Keys have a long friendship with it even being confirmed that the Brit's parents were in Keys' box. She was also noted as being one of the main attendees at Keys' wedding to long-time boyfriend and coach Bjorn Fratangelo in November.

“They’ve got their tickets,” she said on Eurosport about her parents being on site for it.

“I think they’re here on-site somewhere already because they make sure that they’re on time, and my mum is wearing her lucky earrings, so all set her end.”

Also Robson was given the honour on Eurosport to interview her and a video on her Instagram story captured the moment as she anticipated her friend and gave her a warm embrace.

“I was feeling unwell at this point. The poker face went out the window. I had Rennae Stubbs - who was working for ESPN - grabbing my leg so hard from the other side," said Robson on a video from Eurosport which showed the moment as well as her reaction to the video of herself.

“This must have been the end but all of us felt ill, to be honest. Even if you’re not invested, it’s just one of those matches where you can’t help but feel a bit ill for the person involved.”

"I maybe shed another tear during that speech. I managed to get over and say hello and well done to Bjorn who was the one sitting courtside for her team.

“And they were in bits and as soon as I saw them I went [cried] again. Her physio was pretty much sobbing because all the stuff she’s been through off the court in the last six months from Wimbledon onwards was really tough for her."

With Robson on the tour at the same time as Keys before the former called time on her career in 2022, she has also previously posted about Robson including back in 2019 with a lot of photos of the pair together saying Robson is now stuck with her for life.

"Laura Robson, my ride or die. The girl you have an Instagram dm chat, a texting convo, and a Snapchat conversation going with all at the same time. She has gotten me through some tough times, usually involving face masks and wine. The girl I send snaps to during every shopping trip asking yes or no. I am so happy tennis brought us together cause you’re stuck with me for life," she wrote.

While Robson had to remain impartial of sorts through her role with the media, there were no doubts about why she wanted Keys to win and she achieved her destiny.
