The 2025 Guadalajara Open Akron tournament is the first stop on the WTA calendar after the US Open, taking place from September 8-14, 2025. Although hosted in Guadalajara, Mexico, the tournament can be viewed live in various locations.
A WTA 500 event, the Guadalajara Open will feature several of the WTA's brightest stars in it's singles field, which consists of 28 players. Doubles specialists will also be represented, as 16 teams will battle it out for the prestigious title.
American Emma Navarro was the top seed at the event, with the World No.11 hoping to showcase some of her talent after a subpar performance during the North American hard court season. The 24-year old fell in the opening rounds in Washington, Cincinnati and Monterrey this summer, with the US Open being her only hope at redemption.
Former US Open runner-up Leylah Fernandez, a fan-favorite at the event also was hoping to continue her brilliant form on hard courts this summer. The Canadian stormed to the title in Washington, and has looked more like the player who reached the final at Flushing Meadows four years ago. Albeit both have since withdrawn in a hammer blow to the event.

Defending champion hoping to repeat

Polish star Magdalena Frech captured her maiden WTA title at last year's event, defeating Australian Olivia Gadecki in the final. The 27-year old has a 10-21 match record this season, and will hope to reverse her fortune at the site of her greatest victory.
Greek star Maria Sakkari, who won the event in 2023, has struggled to maintain her form this season. The 30-year is still a threat when she's on top of her game, and will hope to revert to her winning ways in Guadalajara.
With so many talented WTA stars on display, fans will not want to miss a minute of the action. The Guadalajara Open will be broadcast on different platforms across the globe, fans in the USA will have access to the event via Tennis Channel.
Sky Sports will cover the tournament for those in the United Kingdom, Ireland; Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, South Tyrol; Italy, San Marino, Vatican City, South Tyrol. Australia will broadcast the event on beIN Sports, while in New Zealand it will be shown on DAZN.
Viewers in France can watch the Guadalajara Open on beIN Sports, and Eleven Sports will give fans access to the event in Portugal. Below is how you can watch the 2025 Guadalajara Open.
