Danielle Collins is back to playing tennis and she's enjoying it in New York because the crowd is making it that much more fun.
The American did not play that much lately due to persistent physical issues and simply not feeling it enough. She found motivation for the US Open which is important and it's working well for her. The crowd having her back is doing wonders as well and after dispatching Cristina Bucsa, Collins said:
“It’s always fun playing here. I had the home-crowd advantage. I think that really helped me the whole way through. I had to go out and just try to take time away from here, play my game, play aggressive. I think I executed my game plan well.”
Despite not playing much, Collins admitted she didn't feel nervous about it and instead embraced the situation for what it is:
“Honestly, I’ve had some of my best results coming into tournaments without playing warm-up tournaments, so I’m just trying to embrace it. Hopefully, now winning two matches will give me a little more confidence.”
