Anett Kontaveit will face Simona Halep in the Transylvania Open final and if she wins she will not only lift the trophy but also book a spot in the WTA Finals.
It's been an amazing couple of weeks for Anett Kontaveit who demonstrated impeccable tennis skills over a span of several events. She won two of those and with a chance to win a 3rd the Estonian has a lot to play for. If she wins, she will secure a spot at the WTA Finals in Guadalajara which would be a first for the Estonian. She has already secured a top 10 place on Monday but she needs to win if she wants to go to Mexico.
On playing back-to-back finals, Kontaveit said:
"Physically is not easy, but I have been playing some good tennis. I am happy with the way I’ve managed to get through this week. I have a lot to play for, it’s something to really enjoy and go for."
The opponent is not going to be an easy one with a red-hot Simona Halep waiting. The Romanian has been trashing everyone en route to the final and on that Kontaveit said:
"Either way it going to be a tough match. Simona is such a great player, I lost to her quite a few times, but I really think I am playing more consistently, playing a little better. It will be a tough battle."
Kontaveit could knock Ons Jabeur out of the WTA Finals with a win against Halep today and due to that there has been a lot of memes online about the Race with Kontaveit noticing it as well. On that she said:
"Yeah, they’re great. I’ve seen a few comments that she’s made or I I’ve made. She congratulated me after Moscow. Me and Ons we known each other for a very long time and we’ve always gotten along really well, it’s a bit of fun."
