Jessica Pegula is in the quarterfinal of the US Open after easily beating Petra Kvitova as she continues to enjoy her best season to date.
The American has been playing very consistent tennis since the start of the year being currently 3rd int the WTA Race. It's her best season yet and it comes after years of hard work that many people recognize. The key for beting Kvitova was ather simple:
“I just told myself not to get frustrated. I wanted to stay committed to hitting my spots and was able to work my way back.”
Pegula comes from a wealthy family with her father a prominent business and owner of two very popular sporting teams. It is what allows people to make connections here easier than overseas where most just don't know these things:
"It's definitely different playing overseas, I feel people don't make the connection as often as they do here. For me, I mean, there is a lot of people from Buffalo that are kind of all over the place, you always find somebody that's a Bills and Sabres fan. And to me I think I have more embraced it and find it kind of fun and cool that these people, because there's not a lot of tennis in Buffalo, know nothing about tennis but they will come and watch the match in Cincinnati or here or wherever, just because they are like a fan of the teams."
