Iga Swiatek is playing very well at
Wimbledon on a surface which she does not consider her best one.
The Polish player openly talked about low expectations at Wimbledon due to her unfamiliarity with grass at the professional level. Swiatek however is playing very well this year and it's somethat that gives her satistfaction.
She said:
“Few days ago, while I was doing press, it came to my mind that it was here, where three years ago I did my first press conference. At that time everything was new on and off the court. Time flies, and so much
has changed since then but on grass, I'm still in learning mode"
Swiatek further said:
“Trying to stay humble and just putting the work day by day. It's not easy and I still make a lot of mistakes. And it's okay.”
The shift in her mindset was something that changed in Eastbourne which she explained:
“My attitude changed from Eastbourne which wasn't really positive because it was really nice and easy to play for me without any expectations. But when I came here, I realised that I'm on Wimbledon, and everybody started talking about my junior run again."
On her mindset she said:
“I realised that, ‘Hey, it would be nice to win some matches.’ I had some expectations. It is a bit of relief."
