Simona Halep navigated well against a very tricky Camila Giorgi who has played very good tennis lately.
The Italian played a solid match today as well but Simona Halep was simply too good. The Romanian player barely left any chances for Giorgi who is very capable of breaking her opponents and does it so well. Her blast away mentality did not help today against Halep who served very well.
After the match she admitted to practicing serves during recovery:
"I served well also the previous tournaments, so I feel a little bit stronger there. I worked a lot in the break when I couldn't actually move that much because of the leg. So I did practice a lot of serves... "
It showed in the match as Halep was only broken twice at the end of the match when Giorgi simply bombarded from the baseline hitting many of those. She further said on the serving:
"I'm happy that I can see my serve improving, and I can win some easy points with it. So I have been looking for it many years, but now finally I can feel it stronger."
Halep will face Kristina Kucova next which should be another measured test for Simona.
