Former British WTA number one
Heather Watson spoke about receiving constant abuse online and what she wants to see a change in the future.
Public personas around the world around subjected to constant abuse in many different ways. Athletes are no different and former British number one Heather Watson shared some of her experiences:
"Having death threats, racism. I get it pretty much every week after every match but obviously, most of them are direct messages or horrible comments that I'll end deleting. I do think it's important we talk about it."
Watson can sympathize with many other athletes who have gone through a similar experience which is why she wants to see things change in the future.
"I do want more to be done cause I know if I report a message or I sit there for 10 minutes and go through all the hate messages I have and report them, it's just a waste of time. They will just create another account."
Watson finished it off by saying it's became so common that she's immune to it.
"It's sad that I am immune it, because it's so common."
