The coach of Aryna Sabalenka nearly stopped working with her in 2022 because he believed that he had nothing else to give her.
It was false because Dubrov really had plenty to give to Sabalenka as continued working with her and it proved correct in Australia. She's undefeated winning all of her matches in 2023 and now has two trophies more. One of those trophies is the 2023 Australian Open which is her maiden grand slam, her dream come true.
Sabalenka revealed that her coach wanted to leave her last year:
"There was a moment last year when he said 'I think I'm
done, I can't give you anything else.' & I was like 'No, it's not
you, we just have to work through these tough moments & we'll come
back stronger'"
