Emma Raducanu does not mind the pressure and her stellar US Open run would seem to indicate that she deals with it rather well.
Since the US Open triumph, Raducanu did not play all that great tennis. She lost a couple of matches she realistically should have won and many attributed the losses to the added pressure she now feels like a grand slam champion. Raducanu herself spoke about pressure after her Royal Albert Hall exhibition match saying that she doesn't mind it and actually likes it:
“Pressure is a privilege. I quite like it. I think I thrive [on] the adrenaline. For me, I don’t think about other peoples’ opinions or expectations. The only [expectations] I have are [my own], to improve and get better.”
It's an admirable thing to say by Raducanu who is still very young and quite inexperienced in terms of a professional tennis career. Her run at the US Open seems to indicate that Raducanu is feeling confident pressure is something that she deals with rather well. Her career will show if she truly handles it as well as she says she does.
The Brit also spoke about playing in London again which was the first time since Wimbledon. She explained that it was fun and she enjoyed it:
“It was really nice to play at home, I really enjoyed it and found it fun. I played at home this year at Wimbledon and again I had incredible support. So, for me it’s just about the joy when I go out there, seeing everyone. And when they’re cheering it’s just a really nice environment to play [in].”
