Hollywood superstar Zendaya was spotted at the premiere of her new movie, Challengers, where she revealed she is a huge fan of American tennis star
Coco Gauff.
Challengers is a film based on the journey of a former tennis player, portrayed by Zendaya, as she attempts to elevate her tennis player husband to stardom. The film is scheduled for release on April 26, 2024, although Zendaya and her co-actors attended the premiere on April 16 in Los Angeles.
Zendaya received training from Gauff's coach, Brad Gilbert
In an interview with The Tennis Channel at the event, Zendaya disclosed her desire to meet Gauff in person. The Hollywood star had in fact received training for her role from Brad Gilbert, Gauff's coach who helped her win her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2023 US Open.
"I love Coco, I haven't met her yet but I sure hope so," admitted Zendaya. "Brad is her coach so I'm like 'I want to meet her'.
Following the screening, Zendaya thanked all the attendees for showing up. Additionally, she coyly requested the audience to not be too critical of the characters in the movie.
"I feel, I think I speak on behalf of all of us that we’re incredibly grateful that people are actually here," said the actress. "I was thinking like nobody’s gonna be at this screening so I’m so surprised that people are actually here.
"There's so much love and so much gratitude so thank you so much for being here tonight. We sure hope you enjoyed and just have fun, dance if you want to and don’t judge the characters too hard."
