"I wasn't playing confident but that's changed now" says Swiatek another great win

Iga Swiatek kicked off BNP Paribas Masters campaign with a great win over Petra Martic and after the match, she explained what has been working for her this past year and a half.

It took Iga Swiatek only 71 minutes to win her 2nd round match and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The result paints a picture of her dominating the match and that's very accurate because she did. Had she not lost focus a bit in the 2nd set she could have probably finished it off in less than 60 minutes. Asked to compare herself to the 2019 version she said:

"In 2019, I wasn't playing that confident, but I'm really happy that times have changed now. There are many places [I haven't played] because I couldn't finish my season in 2019, and last year, we only had six tournaments, so it's pretty exciting."

Swiatek was very aggressive in this match bombing away from the baseline due to the high bounce of the ball. It gave her plenty of time to get set and play with power:

"I think I gave a lot of power to my shots, and that was the key. She can play great topspin, and as soon as she's going to get good pace, she can do that. This surface is slow, so the topspin is jumping high. I just wanted to be aggressive from the beginning and not let her play her game."
