America’s tennis star
Madison Keys has stated that she will
try to review what went wrong during the Wimbledon clash against the
recently-crowned world number one
Aryna Sabalenka.
The two are set to face off in the semifinal of the
US Open
2023 on Thursday evening at the Flashing Medows.
Keys was quoted in a report ahead of the mega-events clash
where she stated that she will try not to repeat the mistakes she did while
facing the Belarus tennis star in Wimbledon earlier this year in the
quarterfinal where she lost the quarterfinal in straight sets with a score of
6-2, 6-4.
"After the great start I knew that she would grow and
so I remained focused on continuing to do what I knew how to do and without
getting nervous,” she said. “I never panicked and that helped. Things at the
service went very smoothly and at one point it was almost funny.
"These fields
are ideal for me, and I realized that I didn't need to overdo it. I was smart
and my plan worked. She is now number one, but I will definitely try to review
what happened at Wimbledon.”
Keys defeated Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova in the
quarterfinal of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year on Tuesday with a
score of 6-1, 6-4 to book her spot in the last-four of the US Open.
On the other hand, Sabalenka got the better of China’s Qinwen
Zheng in the last-eight of the mega-event with a score of 6-1, 6-4.
