Emma Raducanu is one of the most talked about tennis players on Tour and she's slowly getting used to that as she aims to let her tennis do the talking for her.
Raducanu became a global superstar overnight after winning the US Open and media interest has not died down since then. The praise became criticism though as her tennis became lacklustre last year but she's worked hard in the offseason and she's ready to show it on the courts. Her first chance will come in Auckland at the tennis classic.
Speaking ahead of the event, she said:
"The other things around me have changed a lot. So I’ve become extremely busy... that's probably the biggest thing. I’m probably more in the public eye, but it comes with the territory and I wouldn’t change it for what happened."
On preparations, Raducanu said:
"I didn't play any tennis for two and a half, three months. I did lots of fitness. I've just started getting back into tennis ten days, two weeks. I'm feeling good. It's been a bit stop-start. I feel like I'm setting up a good system right now."
She concluded with:
''If there’s something worth talking about they’ll talk, if you’re not worth talking about, then they won’t talk about you."
