Iga Swiatek has been the world number one for over a year becoming only the 9th woman to hold the ranking for over a year since computers started tracking it in 1975.
The Polish player rose to the top of the rankings last year with an impressive level that ensured her numerous trophies.
She won over 30 matches in a row which was another sensational achievement during her time. Despite not playing as well this year Swiatek was able to keep her ranking and she's now been number one for over a year.
It was on April 4th last year that she took over the rankings and a 67-9 record in 2022 ensured that finished the year on top of them.
Many would like to believe that she took over the rankings due to Ashleigh Barty retiring from the sport and while it certainly helped, the Polish superstar took over the rankings because she was the best player at that time.
It was fully earned and deserved.
