Lucky loser Altmaier eases past Munar to reach Quarter-Finals at Madrid Open

German lucky loser, Daniel Altmaier reached his first ever Masters 1000 Quarter-Final as he beat Jaume Munar 6-3, 6-0 at Caja Magica on Tuesday.

Altmaier who has not reached one outside an ATP 250 tournament has gone all the way to one at Masters level.

Currently ranked 92 in the ATP Rankings, he will face the winner of Borna Coric and Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina next.

He won against other Germans en route in Oscar Otte (6-4, 7-5) and Yannick Hanfmann (7-6, 6-3) and now will set his sights on a first semi-final as his next milestone.
